Small Groups at Riverside take many forms - there are groups that are focused on studying the bible, family based groups and groups that are based around a particular ministry - but the most common group is a kinship group. Kinship groups are at the centre of a Vineyard Church and we recommend that everyone who calls Riverside Vineyard home gets involved in a group.
  What is a Kinship Group?
A Kinship Group is:

A real meeting with God
Worship - Our primary function - To express our love to God - Change in His presence
A place where we can use the gifts of the Holy Spirit - To see God's power released, to change peoples lives
Weekly opportunity to give and receive
Share communion

A real meeting with each other
Relaxed/informal - enabling a high degree of sharing, allowing people to be real with one another
Sharing Meals - Acts 2:46-47
Events can be intimate and fun - Sharing our needs
A place to become vulnerable - Sharing practical/spiritual needs
To be channels of God's love
Regular - Usually weekly meetings - Heb 10:25
Heart of church

A place to give and receive pastoral care

A place from which to reach out to those who don't know Jesus
A Kinship Group is not primarily:

A bible study

A counselling forum

A discussion group

A debating society

A prayer group

A social group
